FISH TAKES ON BERANKIS

Mardy Fish has defeated Recardas Berankis of Lithuania in the second round of the Citi Open. Fish, who has been given the top seed in this competition, has entered into the quarter finals by the virtue of this win.  Fish won the match easily. He defeated Berankis in the straight sets by 6-3, 6-1. The match was over in almost an hour. Fish had to go through a heart surgery in May, but, the way he has been performing in the Citi Open, it seems that he has recovered completely now.

Two weeks back, while playing in the Atlanta Open, Fish had to leave the match due to ankle injury. On being asked about that injury, Fish told the reporters that he has got rid of that injury now and he is not feeling any pain in that ankle. As per Fish, he is still regaining his fitness and the body is gradually getting better day by day. He said that he is quite satisfied with the way he is playing at the moment. According to Fish, winning the match in 1 hour was a very good result and he would like to continue the same kind of form in the quarter final as well.

Fish played some powerful shots during the match and he fired a total of 12 aces in the match. On being asked about his heart surgery, Fish said that it was a very tough phase and at one point of time, he had started thinking that he might not be able to play tennis again. But, by the grace of God, he came out of it really well. On being asked about not playing in the Olympics, Fish said that it would have been fantastic to represent his country in the Olympics, but, he was struggling with the injuries. So, he decided to keep himself out of the London Games.
