Rafael Nadal sets up a semi final date with Andy Murray

Renewed rivalry between Nadal and Murray takes place on Friday with Murray vying to reach the finals of French Open 2014. If he does so it will be his first clay court final. Rafael Nadal is the defending champion.

It is hailed as clash of the titans between the two. Two different styled players-one right hand and the other left hand. Comparisons of all sorts have already started that it will also be hailed as the clash of Adidas vs. Nike. It is not often that the two have come together often and the time is ripe for Nadal to surpass Murray. Both have had a tough duel in their quarter final match but it was Nadal’s sheer excellence that will be struck in his mind when he plays against Murray. The styles do not match with each other hence, one cannot presume who is going to win but one has to go with Nadal as he is the ultimate King of clay.

When it comes to Rolland Garros, Nadal’s tryst of love does not seem to end as it is his favorite grand slam and obviously, he is coming in with a lot of confidence and vigor. If he triumphs he will have 9 French Open titles under his belt. It was in 2011 that Murray lost to Nadal consecutively in the semi finals of three grand slams- Wimbledon, U.S Open and Rolland Garros. Nadal has lost only once at the hands of Robert Soderling in French Open.

Will Nadal continue his winning streak and reach the finals of yet another French Open grand slam is a matter of days. He will be hoping for a fitter body and presence of mind that he will need when he plays Murray.
