FISH GETS REVENGE ON BLAKE AFTER A DECADE

American tennis star Mardy Fish had to wait a decade to do revenge against his buddy James Blake.

Both legends met on Stadium Court at the Connecticut Tennis Centre in the Men’s Legends Event at the Connecticut Open.

Both legends exchanged jokes ahead of the legends final at the event. The 35-year old Fish got the better of his pal at the end, defeating him 6-4. He earlier defeated Mark Philippoussis by the same score earlier before repeating.

Fish spoke of their friendship for years. He revealed that they lived in Tampa, sharing a house.

“We started playing professional tennis at the same time,” he said.

“I didn’t go to college. He didn’t graduate college,” he added.

Both stars met at the ATP Tour final called Pilot Pen Tennis back in 2007. Blake was the better man, winning for the second time in three years. Fish played the following year as he tried to win the event but Marin Cilic defeated him.

In the ATP Tour series, both stars Fish and Blake met six times, winning three apiece. Both men enjoyed the game as they reminisced their playing days.

On the Mardy Fish GETS REVENGE ON BLAKE AFTER A DECADE, Fish said he always looked up to him. Fish defeated the legend at the Indian Wells back in 2001 but Philippoussis returned the favour in 2006 at Newport.

“When I was coming through the juniors, he was top 10 in the world. You’re always watching some of the guys, coming up, you watch all the guys doing so well in majors, in big tournaments. He was one of them. It’s fun playing against a guy like that,” Fish said.
